A Proven Model for Lasting Change
People to People (P2P) was founded by Chris Roesel, inspired by the remarkable success of the Jamkhed Project in India. This project demonstrated that even the most severe health crises, like high infant mortality, could be solved with low-cost, high-impact solutions by working *with* and training the community grandmothers, not just for them.
We adopted this philosophy. P2P addresses the root causes of suffering—lack of clean water, preventable diseases, and poor sanitation. We partner with villages, train local committees, and implement sustainable projects that have a measurable, life-altering impact for generations.
Our Guiding Principles
Community Partnership
We listen first, acting as partners, not just providers.
Projects are planned and managed with inclusive local committees.
We empower communities to own and sustain their own success.
Our goal is to build local capacity for the long term, training by doing, especially training older women to be leaders.
High-Impact, Low-Cost
We focus on proven, cost-effective solutions like hand-drilled wells.
Inspired by the Jamkhed model ($1.80/person/year).
Maximizing every donation to save as many lives as possible.
Financial efficiency is core to our operational integrity.
Rotary Collaboration
Our work is amplified through a deep partnership with Rotary International.
Collaborating with clubs in the US and Africa for on-the-ground support.
Leveraging a global network of resources and expertise.
Ensuring accountability and long-term project viability.
A Focus on Health Outcomes
Our primary goal is to reduce illness and prevent death.
We track key metrics like malaria rates and children’s diarrhea.
Improving maternal health is a critical component of our work.
We believe a healthy community is an empowered community, especially when they have led the improvement.
Our Mission
To work directly with African communities to build protected water supplies, improve sanitation, eliminate malaria, and support maternal health. We provide the tools and training to empower people, especially women, to build their own healthy futures.
Our Vision
We envision a future where people in African villages are no longer in a daily struggle for survival, but are healthy, self-sufficient, and free to contribute to their communities and the world.
