WASH: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
Access to clean water is the foundation of community health. Without it, waterborne diseases are rampant, children miss school due to illness, and hours are spent each day fetching water from unsafe sources. Our WASH program tackles this crisis head-on.
- Building Wells: We work with villagers, training and equipping them to drill protected wells, providing a safe, reliable water source.
- Distributing Filters:: We distribute high-efficiency water filters that remove bacteria from dirty water.
- Training & Education: We establish local water committees to manage and maintain the wells, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Malaria Elimination
Malaria is a leading cause of death in the regions we serve, especially among young children. This devastating disease is entirely preventable and treatable. Our program focuses on breaking the cycle of transmission and protecting the most vulnerable.
- Prevention First: We focus on proven prevention strategies to stop malaria before it starts.
- Community Health: We work with local health partners to ensure access to diagnostics and treatment.
- Saving Lives: Our goal is to drastically reduce malaria-related illness and death, allowing children to grow up healthy and strong.
Women’s VSLA Empowerment
When women are empowered, entire communities thrive. Our Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) partnerships with TCP Global (https://www.tcpglobal.ngo/) provides a platform for women to gain financial independence, improve their families’ health, and become leaders in their communities.
- Financial Inclusion: Women pool their savings and provide small loans to each other, fostering entrepreneurship.
- Improved Health Outcomes: VSLAs often tie into our prenatal services, ensuring women have the resources for safe births.
- Building Confidence: Members gain financial literacy, business skills, and a powerful support network.
Refugee Community Support
Refugee settlements face immense challenges, including overcrowded conditions and a severe lack of basic services. P2P works within these vulnerable communities to provide life-sustaining support and restore dignity.
- Targeted Locations: We operate critical projects in major refugee and population settlements including Nakivale in SW Uganda, Yumbe in NW, and South Kivu in the DRC.
- Essential Services: Our primary focus is on providing clean water and sanitation—the most urgent needs in these areas.
- Restoring Hope: By addressing these fundamental needs, we help create a safer, healthier environment for families displaced by crisis.
